This online Quickstart Guide was designed to step you through the initial installation and running of DesktopAnalyzer.   Advanced topics are covered in the DesktopAnalyzer Reference Manual.

Installing DesktopAnalyzer

First, make sure that you meet the minimum requirements for your platform, including the proper Java VM. Next, install DesktopAnalyzer:

Windows: The download EXE is the install program for DesktopAnalyzer. Just run this program after downloading it.

Running DesktopAnalyzer

DesktopAnalyzer is typically used by a help desk to automate checking the configuration of end-user computer systems. Someone must first write a script and then sign that script to a DesktopAnalyzer EXE.  A default script is provided with the release to provide a working example for writing/editing a script file. The DesktopAnalyzer Reference Manual provides detailed information on test configuration and signing the script.

This new EXE may then be deployed to the remote user or posted on a support web site (or elsewhere) -- providing a single-click analysis of end-user computer systems.
